In the autumn of 2035, thousands of meteors rained down upon the Earth. Two days later the Bugs emerged from the craters to wreck havoc across the globe. The aliens targeted the power grid, and it wasn't long before the lack of electricity led to a complete breakdown in communications, transportation and basic social structure.
It is now spring of 2037. Emerging from the second winter after The Fall, the world as we knew it no longer exists. Major cities have fallen to starvation and disease. Billions are dead. Governments have collapsed, and once-great armies have devolved into isolated resistance groups or marauders.
The small town of Freeport, Maine has weathered the storm better than most, remaining a bastion of civilization in the wilderness. But its prosperity makes it a target, and the survivors face a constant struggle against bandits, Bugs, nature and each other.
